Hexen review by TheUnbeholden

Hexen has the advantage of being one of the most unique games that came out, it made swinging a axe or mace for the first time a joy for many people who owned a Nintendo 64. It had a nice variety of locations and enemies, and a unique set of weapons for each class that added to the replay value. Theres quite a few secret areas to and its gotten quite a few good mods to improve the game further. The bosses feel tougher and better designed than the Doom 1, 2 counterparts. Yes it's hard to not like this game even considering how old it is now. There are disadvantages, Like you could want more assets into the game, so that theres more furniture and other props... Fights where rather drawn out, ettins took some punishment, centaurs had this shield that makes them invulnerable, even once you get stronger weapons. Directionless levels meant wandering around alot with little idea of how to proceed although that did add to the length of the game. 4 weapons per class isn't that much, game could have used atleast 1 or 2 more for each of the classes...and such the game feels a little tactically weak without secondary attacks for your 4 weapons. Mods fix that though. Community have added alot to this game.
